"The CURE for the Common Workplace"

Guiding you to maximized human productivity

An important part of the "CURE" is your wellness and fitness. Generation Y has it right! We don't have a work life and a personal life-we have ONE LIFE! Let's take care of the ONE we have.....Well past 40

Much more to add to this page. This page is personal for John. He felt it was critical to address our wellness, which becomes even more important as we seek to get and stay....WELL PAST 40. We are specifically focusing on those hard working baby boomers. For those of you a bit younger these principles apply to you as well.  Remember prevention is much better than correction!

Check out our blog

John is just about 49 now and has come to realize that if his health is not good he cannot be at his best!  We've grown tired of the endless stream of "diets" and magazines featuring men and women that have bodies that look more like something out of a genetic engineering lab than anything in the real world. What about the 99% of us that actually have a life outside of the lab?

John works 80-90 hours a week.  He doesn't have time to seek out organic tofu or hand fed Indiana beef.  He cannot spend 3 hours a day training or working out, HE HAS A JOB. He shops in the local supermarket and has, AT MOST 60 minutes to work on fitness on the days he does exercise. Oh by the way HE HATES TO EXERCISE but loves the results and the all day feeling that it generates.

You can be in really good shape eating real food and doing reasonable exercise, no kidding. You will have more energy, you will sleep better, every aspect of your life including your performance at work and well let's say at home will improve with a reasonable wellness routine.  Do not think John has been some kind of gym rat his entire life. In the Navy they had a reasonable fitness routine but nothing crazy. When he retired hr joined corporate America.  He also retired his fitness and wellness.  John went from 172 pounds the day he retired to 207 pounds. It was a slow climb over the course of 6 years. By the time the summer of 2009 had gotten here he had not done ANY type of exercise in nearly 3 years.  His diet complimented his exercise program nicely (yup it was horrible)!

John got out of the shower one morning and caught a GOOD look at his profile. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH his belly girth had hit 44.5"!!!!!  The blood pressure had gotten dangerously high and his resting pulse was 90.  He had become a physical mess by any definition. So he went back to work. Reasonable diet and exercise and John is on his way to being in the best shape of his life.  As we develop this section of the site for you he will share more on the how, what and why of reasonable fitness for those who are and are seeking... Well past 40!

Remember the "CURE" is about, among other things, focus, ownership/ accountability, and developing strengths. GET GOING, you are not getting any younger!

Since an important part of achieving GOALS is sharing them with people, John is sharing his. Where he started, where he is now and where he is heading.  Not yet brave enough to post those horrible before and after pictures but perhaps some day........

After the March 2010 goal is achieved we'll add another. What you see documented below has been achieved eating normal food and exercising 4 times a week, never more than 60 minutes per session. Although John has a nice little home gym, similar results can be achieved with about $100 worth of portable equipment from your local sporting goods store.

 Date 15 Sept 2009
 15 Dec 2009
 15 Mar 2010 GOAL
 Weight  207  186  180 (add some muscle)
 BMI  29.2  25.6  24

Our hope is to help you find better health. This all ties in to our theme of personal responsibility and is a CRITICAL part of the "CURE" for the Common Workplace. After all, human productivity and success can only be sustained if the body is well.
